Baxter

breckin-awards-and-akc-015.jpgbreckin-awards-and-akc-003.jpgBreckin (formerly Baxter) was a little blue merle Aussie rescued in the nick of time from Murray County Animal Control.  He joined the McCook family of Austell, GA in the summer of 2007.  Breckin’s owner’s note below just goes to prove that there are no limits to what a rescue dog can accomplish.

Well, it’s been a little more than a year since Breckin joined our family and I can’t tell you how happy we all are.

After earning his Canine Good Citizen certificate in December, we decided to try an “Agility for Fun” class.  Last February, Breckin and I went to Cartersville to watch a real agility trial sponsored by the Greater Atlanta Australian Shepherd Club.   Well, we took two 2nd places in the Novice class, although we did not earn any Qs.  Everybody at the trial was very friendly and one of the people who explained to me how the Jumpers class worked was so impressed with Breckin, she offered to train us.   Her name is Claudia Berkhan.   We have been working once a week for the past two and a half months.  At our first complete trial on the Memorial Day weekend, Breckin took six 1st places and a number of 2nds.  Breckin titled in Gamblers that weekend and earned a 10 point Q in Regular Agility.

But last weekend, only his 2nd trial, was the best.  Not only did he title in Regular Agility and earned a Q in Jumpers, but he earned Novice High in Trial ribbons both Saturday and Sunday.  Also, on Saturday, Breckin won the High in Trial ribbon for all Aussies in all divisions!

Again, I want to thank you for all you did to facilitate our adoption of Breckin.  Breckin is a very happy dog and we are thrilled to have him with us.  A better match could not have been made.

Thanks again,

Don
