Max
Max is a 2 year old Australian Shepherd that was surrendered by his owner because they could no longer care for him. He is deaf and visually impaired. He can see a few shadows from his left eye, but is totally blind in his right eye. He is what is referred to as a “Lethal White” – the breeding of merle to merle by irresponsible breeders. 25% of the litters are usually born deaf and/or blind and breeders will cull (kill) those that are deaf and blind – hence the name Lethal Whites. Many of these animals have been rescued and gone on to make wonderful pets. They are trained by hand and touch signals.
Max will need a fenced in yard and someone that will be willing to devote time to train him. He has learned a few touch signals like sit and down. Max is a fast learner and will need a special, loving home that is willing to provide the extra care needed.
