In August, 2008 Summerville police and animal control officers were called to an abandoned home and found five Australian Shepherds left to starve to death. One dog was dead on the scene. Another dog was too far gone to be saved and an attending veterinarian humanely euthanized him. Our huge appreciation goes out the Summerville authorities for stepping in to help these dogs to safety.
Margo has come a long way since she was rescued. It took a couple of months, but she finally gained enough weight to receive her vaccinations. She completed her heartworm treatment with flying colors on October 24th and will be available at the end of November when she is spayed.
Margo is a quiet, watchful dog. She does get excited when her foster Mom comes home or when everyone is going outside. She absolutely adores puppies and has a very maternal nature.
Margo ignores cats, is housetrained and crate trained and walks very nicely on leash. She rides great in the car, but is hesitant getting in and coming out of a vehicle.
Margo is nothing short of a miracle in her ability to continue to trust humans and seek out attention. She is on the shy side…but is a very gentle dog. Margo would do best being placed in a home with another doggie companion. She has always lived with dogs…and would probably not know what to do by herself.
She was especially taken with a young foster sister who was playful and submissive. Margo would succeed best in a quieter home that has lots of love to give. She is a bit shy upon first introduction, but will quickly warm up to a new family. A home with older children that is quiet would be best for her.
Margo looks a bit threadbare right now as all of her damaged coat has shed and new growth is coming in. She will one day grow into a beautiful blue merle lady.
Margo is fostered in Lawrenceville, GA. A huge thanks goes out to Town and Country Veterinary Clinic for taking excellent care of Margo.
