Firelight ARPH 10979

100_7511.jpg100_74971.jpg

Firelight sends big puppy kisses to his sponsors:  Laurie Ford (and her ARPH dog Finn), Lynne Harper (and her ARPH dogs Dudley and Hurley), Tommy and Barbie Johnson (and their ARPH dogs Coach and Lakota); Nathalie and Don Latimer (and their ARPH dogs Duke and Vandy), Janet, Tony, Blaze & Mishka Ward, Gail Lough, and Sheley Revis and her Aussie Enzo.

None of the Summerville dogs will be available for adoption for a few months.  All will need to gain much needed weight until they are ready to be neutered and then will have to undergo heartworm treatment when they are strong enough.

Firelight is the smallest of the Aussies from Summerville, weighing only 20lbs.  He is a curious little guy who wants to trust.

Firelight is also heartworm positve, anemic and in dire need of gaining some weight.

Trevor is a red tri Aussie also rescued from the abandonment case in Summerville, Ga.  He is about 2 years old and in better shape than the other two dogs rescued with him.

Trevor is a larger boy, even though he only weighs 29lbs currently, he should grow to be a 55lb dog.  Trevor is also suffering from anemia and heartworm disease.

Margo ARPH 10980

100_7515.jpgbmf.jpg

Margo sends big puppy kisses to her sponsors:  Lynne Harper (and her ARPH dogs Dudley and Hurley), Tommy and Barbie Johnson (and their ARPH dogs Coach and Lakota); Nathalie and Don Latimer (and their ARPH dogs Duke and Vandy),  Janet, Tony, Blaze & Mishka Ward,  Jim Castleberry and Gail Lough.

We know these photos are hard to look at, but imagine how these dogs felt laying out in the GA heat with no food or water.

Nothing could have prepared volunteers for the poor condition that these dogs are in.  Margo is fighting for her life right now.  She is emaciated, extremely anemic, and heartworm positive.  We have never seen cruelty such as what these dogs have endured.

Margo is a beautiful soul still willing to trust and love despite the poor treatment humans have delivered to her.  She only weighs 26lbs.

We need your donations to help Margo on the road to recovery.  None of the Chattooga dogs will be available for several months.  It will be weeks until they have gained enough weight to be vaccinated and spayed/neutered, much less undergo heartworm treatment.

Margo is fostered in Kennesaw, GA.  A huge thanks goes out to Town and Country Veterinary Clinic for caring for these dogs.

Duke 10815

img_2401.JPGimg_2403.JPG

Before contacting us in regards to a dog, please complete an adoption application Adoption Application.

Duke is a very enthusiastic young black tri Aussie with a docked tail. He doesn’t photograph well, but is a very handsome dog! He is fully vetted, neutered and heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Duke is also potty trained and crate trained. He gets along very well with other dogs (big, small, male or female), children and all people.  While not flashy he is a great dog, with a winning personality.

Duke is such a smart dog, you feel as if he understands exactly what you’re saying to him all the time. While it seems that Duke has never had any kind of training, he learns very quickly, is very obedient and wants to make you happy! Duke knows come, sit and we’re working on stay. Duke is also excellent at fetching the ball! Duke loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home and gets along very well with them. We even catch the dogs eating their food out of the same doggy bowl at times! Duke loves to play tug of war with his rope with the other dogs or with people! Duke’s favorite toy would probably be raw hides. When you give him a raw hide, he struts around with pride showing it off for a while before he starts chewing on it.Duke is such a sweet dog and just loves to be around people and other dogs. It takes him no time at all to make new friends, and then they are friends for life. Duke wants more then anything to be in the middle of the action. He just loves attention of any kind and is extremely affectionate!!!! He is happy to do whatever activity you want, as long as he gets to be part of the fun! He just loves to be around his people! He loves to go on walks, although he does need a bit of work walking on a leash. He rides well in cars and does not mind being in his crate. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, energetic dog who just wants someone to love and to play with him, Duke is the dog for you. He deserves to  find a good, forever home that will love him back!!!If you are interested in adopting Duke please contact Kim at savaussies@comcast.net

Denim ARPH 18019

dsc00057.JPGDenim is a seven month old blue merle Aussie that has a sad story, Denim spent two long days laying in a ditch thought to be dead, until someone stopped to check on him, lucky for Denim as they saved his life. A mere 9 pounds when he came to rescue, he did not have the strength to stand up but foster care has done wonders for him.  He has been fully vetted, is on heartworm prevention and is on the road to recovery.

Denim has improved tremendously over the past two weeks.  He is now over 20lbs, eating kibble three times a day, and his full puppy energy has returned.  Denim is doing wonderfully on his housetraining, and has not had a single accident in over a week!  He is crate trained, though he has to be physically placed in the crate, he settles nicely for the night or during the day when we are running errands.  He has never had an accident in his crate.  Denim is scheduled to be neutered next week and will be ready for placement following his week recovery from the procedure.

Denim is a terrific medium energy pup.  He loves his foster brothers and entices them into play regularly.  His favorite playmate however is the resident kitten whom he is a constant companion to and who even accompanies him on his daily walks.  Denim is great on leash but will also walk at heel without one.  He is extremely affectionate and gives kisses any chance he gets.  He is terrific with children of all ages and has no food or toy aggression issues at all.  He is extremely intelligent and working on his basic commands and already has “come”, “heel”, and “no” down pat.  Denim is very playful as a healthy puppy should be.  He loves his squeaky toys and nylabone.  Denim is not a wanderer and prefers to be with the pack.  He rides well in the car but is hesitant to get in, though excited to get “there”.  He handles new situations with curiosity but a bit of the natural aussie reserve at first.  He warms to people within a few minutes.  There is absolutely nothing negative about this boy and he would make a great companion in any home, though we would prefer he have another playmate of some type to keep him entertained and continue with his training.

If you would like to support Denim on his journey back to health please make a donation at www.aussierescue.comwith his ID number 10819.

Denim sends a big thank you to the following sponsors the Florjo family, White family, Scott family and Mahoney family.

Denim is located in Bluffton SC very near Savannah, GA and if you are an approved adopter please contact Kim at savaussies@comcast.net

Merlot 10818 Pending adoption

dog-pics-074.JPGdog-pics-075.JPG

Merlot is a handsome red tri male with a docked tail and stunning amber eyes. He is a medium sized boy who is about two years old. Merlot is neutered, up to date with shots and currently undergoing heartworm treatment for a very light case of heartworm. Merlot was rescued from a shelter in the Statesboro area.
Merlot is an easy going loving Aussie, he is a Velcro dog, longing to be right next to his foster family at all times. He is housebroken and crate trained. Merlot is good with other dogs, cats and children. He is playful with other dogs but would much rather lavish his attention on his humans. He has a long and fluffy coat which we are working on to get back in shape now. He also is very soft hearted and needs an easy hand with training, he is a sensative fellow!

If you are looking for a loyal and eager to please type of boy take a look at Merlot, he will always be by your side and gives you 100% of his attention and love.
Merlot is located in the Hinesville, GA area and will be ready for adoption in September, if you would like to sponsor Merlot for his heartworm treatment please make a donation at www.aussierescue.com with his ID number 10818, any donations are always welcome.
If you have any questions about Merlot please contact Kim Johnson at savaussies@comcast.net

Bella 10820

p8090245.JPG100_7329.jpg100_7304.jpg

Before contacting us in regards to a dog, please complete an adoption application Adoption Application.

Bella is a 1.5 year old red bi Aussie with a docked tail.  She is up to date on vaccinations and spayed.  She was turned into animal control by her owner because she kept chases the horses in his pasture.

Bella’s coat is in rough shape right now, but we are working to get her looking like the pretty girl that she is.  Bella is great with kids, rides nicely in the car, and is learning to walk on leash.

Bella has a very high herding drive, whether with other dogs or livestock.  She tends to like to keep things in a herd and in order.  She might be a great prospect for someone looking to get into competitive herding.

Bella is fostered in Dallas, Ga.  Approved adopters may contact Kim Johnson.

Caylie ARPH 10817

100_7252.jpg100_7153.jpg100_7094.jpg

Caylie is a sweet, smaller red tri female Aussie with a docked tail. She is about 3 years old, is up to date on vaccinations and spayed.  Unfortunately,  as with so many southern dogs, Caylie has tested positive for heartworms and will be available in a couple of months when she’s completed her treatment.

Caylie was brought in as a stray to Coweta Animal Control.  We suspect she ended up in this situation due to the fact that she will jump a three foot fence.  However, Caylie could easily be trained off leash as she never wishes to stray from her people.  Prior to her heartworm treatment, she enjoyed a trip to the lake with her foster family and never ventured further than 10 feet from her foster Mom and Dad.

Caylie rides nicely in the car and appears to have been someone’s pet in the past.  She seems to get along fine with other dogs, but doesn’t really show any interest in playing with them and can get a little bossy at times.  She also doesn’t appear to have any interest in cats.

Caylie is a super sweet “want to please” kind of Aussie and will even stand on her back legs and twirl around if she’s really excited.  She’s an extremely intelligent and lively dog despite her heartworm infection.

Caylie could use your donations to help cover her heartworm treatment.

To Support ARPH or Sponsor an Individual Dog, visit the SUPPORTING AUSSIE RESCUE & PLACEMENT HELPLINE, INC. (ARPH).

Caylie is fostered in Roswell, GA.  Approved adopters may contact Kim Johnson at savaussies@comcast.net.

Dara 10814

100_7018.jpg100_6912.jpgdara.jpg

Before contacting us in regards to a dog, please complete an adoption application Adoption Application.

Dara is a ten month old black bi female with a natural bob tail. Dara is up to date with her shots, heartworm negative and is spayed.

Here is what we know about Dara, she is a smaller female at about 32 pounds, very active, likes toys, loves to play with her brother, rides well in a car and is great with people.  Shortly after getting her bath Dara took a turn running on some of the agility equipment, loving the tunnel and going over some jumps, so she may be a future agility star……or maybe flyball as she was quick to chase a ball.

Dara also sends a big thanks to ARPH adopters the Summers for helping to spring her from jail and giving her a ride to her new foster home.

Dara is a bold and happy little Aussie, who loves to go hiking and running.  She would do great with an active family that wants a “take anywhere, do anything” hearty dog.  She is fostered in the Atlanta area. If you have any questions about Dara please contact Kim at savaussies@comcast.net

Yager 10812

yagerfront.jpgyager-dog.jpgyager1.jpgyager.jpg

Yager is a LARGE Red tri male, and I mean LARGE, he is about 22-23 inches tall and solid muscle. He was found as a stray in Memphis TN and made a journey to GA for some help. Yager was found to be heartworm positive at the shelter and will require heartworm treatment. He is about four years old, and besides the heartworms in great health. He is up to date with all shots and neutered.

Yager is a stunning Aussie, he has wonderful bone structure, great movement and what a personality this boy has. He has been tested with other dogs, cats and loves children. This boy has a heart as big as his body, he simply loves attention and has such a sweet and soft personality. Yager has a can do personality take a look at him trying out the dog walk!

Yager is easy going, loving and eager to please. He will be a great addition to any family. He also knows some basic commands! What more could you ask for???

Yager is fostered in Savannah GA and won’t be ready for several weeks due to his heartworm treatment. If you would like to sponsor him please go to www.aussierescue.com and make a donation with his number 10812.

Yager is sponsored in memory of Bear, a great aussie who never met a dog he did not like!

Zephyr 10715

zephyr-new.jpgzephyr-aug.jpg100_1924.jpg

Before contacting us in regards to a dog, please complete an adoption application Adoption Application.

Zephyr is a four month old red tri female with a tail. She is fully vetted and is spayed. She is on heartworm prevention and flea control. She and her brother Oakely were rescued from a local animal control. It looks like she will be a medium sized girl when an adult. She also has a short Aussie working coat which is easy to maintain. Zephyr has been moved to a foster home with several other dogs and she is really coming out of her shell now, she enjoys playing with the other puppy in her foster home and is doing great with playing with the other dogs. Zephry is going to need a home that will continue to work on her socialization and expose her to new things. She is a beautiful girl and just needs an understanding family to help her grow and learn.  Zephyr needs a home with another dog to help her gain confidence. She has been exposed to other dogs, cats and children and is fine with them.

Don’t let the fact that this girl is shy hold you back from her adoption, shy dogs do great in homes that expose them to new things and get them into obedience and other activities. Zephry has an eager to please attitude and is a very loving dog.

She is your usual active Aussie puppy with lots of energy and curiosity for life. Of course she is a cute girl now but remember Australian Shepherds need lots of activity and she would benefit from a puppy class when she is adopted to help her bond with her new owner. Zephyr is located in the Hinesville, GA area and approved adopters can contact Kim Johnson at savaussies@comcast.net You must travel to meet this puppy for adoption.

Meg ARPH 10705

meg.JPG100_61221.JPG100_61231.JPG

Before contacting us in regards to a dog, please complete an adoption application Adoption Application

Meg is a gorgous 6 year old black tri Aussie with a bobbed tail.  She is vaccinated, spayed and being maintained on heartworm prevention.

Meg was turned into the shelter by her former family because they wanted a dog that played with their children.  We guess Meg just didn’t fit the bill.

Meg is very shelter shocked right now and is trying to get her bearings.  She’s had a lot of change in the last few days, and losing the family that she’s always known has her a bit confused.  So far, we know that she is a gentle girl that will let anyone pretty much do anything to her.

We’re giving her lots of hugs to let her know that she’s not going to be abandoned again and everything’s going to be good from here on out.
Meg is a shy girl and very quiet.  She prefers to stay out of the hustle and bustle of her foster home, but shows curiosity in the other dogs there in a very gentle way.

Meg is probably never going to be a chase a ball or playful dog, but she’ll completely devote herself to her family and would make a fantastic companion for someone who is just looking for a friend to spend time with.

Her eyes are so soulful and they almost seem to be wondering what she did wrong to end up in the shelter.  Meg is fostered in Monroe, GA.  Her ideal home would be a quiet one without a lot of activity.  Even though she’s lived with children before, she seems very nervous about them running around; even older kids, so we request that she be adopted to a home with no children.

Meg would do well as an only dog or with a laid back doggie companion.  She loves people, and loves getting hugs.

Approved adopters may contact contact Kim Johnson.

Mr Bean ARPH 10714

dscn0083.JPG

Mr Bean is an eight year old black tri male who has a docked tail. He was rescued from the shelter. This older boy is currently undergoing medical care after his time at the shelter. He is an overweight boy who is working on getting healthy. He is  a lovable boy, who enjoys people and other dogs.  His did not deserve to be thrown away at during his later years of life and left to die in a shelter.

To see Mr Bean after a week in foster care is to see a different dog, he is doing so much better now. He has recovered from the case of kennel cough he had and he is on medication for his arthritis now which is helping him to move around. He is very happy to have a second chance. He is housebroken and a very easy going boy. He loves walks and hopefully he will take some of the weight off with some daily walks.

Bringing in an older dog to the program means added costs to help get them healthy, if you would like to help support Mr. Bean  you can make a donation on his behalf at

http://www.aussierescue.com/SupportARPH/DonatetoARPH.aspx

Your support helps us to be able to help our senior citizan dogs out!  Mr Bean thanks the Scarbrough family for making a donation in the memory of Carol O’conner to help support his care.

Mr Bean would also like to thank the friends of Bear  who made a contribution  in the memory of Bear Cochran Webb, a great Aussie friend who was much loved and will be always missed.

Mr Bean also send a thank you out to Leslie Scott for her donation to help an old guy out…

If you have any questions please contact Kim Johnson at savaussies@comcast.net

Marcell 10713 Pending adoption

marcell.jpgmarcell-face.jpg

Marcell is a four year old red tri male with a docked tail. He is about 40 pounds an has  a lot of muscle tone. Marcell has completed his heartworm treatment and is a different dog now he feels great.  Marcell came to us with a matted coat that smelled of chemicals. After a nice bath and brushing we found a stunning dog.  He has a dark red color that will turn heads when it grows back in.  While shy at first meeting at the shelter, this boys personality has emerged. He is friendly and loving, a bit leary of small toddlers but ignores cats and loves to play with other dogs.

Marcell is one of those dogs that knows how lucky he is to have been rescued. He seems to understand that this is his second chance to have a great life and he is taking advantage of the good life.

He is housebroken and crate trained, and his worst habit is jumping up (very gently) when he meets you. He loves attention and has learned to enjoy shopping at the local Petsmart.  Marcell bonds with people quickly and is eager to be the center of some lucky person’s world.  .

Marcell sends a big hug to Mrs Richardson for her support during his heartworm treatment. Marcell also sends a big thank you to the Great Atlanta Australian Shepherd Club for their support and also to the Scott family.

Marcell is located in the Savannah GA area and if you would like to sponsor Marcell please contact Kim Johnson at savaussies@comcast.net

Meara ARPH 10469

mir_6.jpgmir_10.jpg101_4676-2.JPG

Before contacting us in regards to a dog, please complete an adoption application Adoption Application.

Meara is a beautiful small red tri female with a tail.  She is spayed, vaccinated, and being maintained on heartworm prevention.  She is housetrained and crate trained.

Meara came from a situation where she and several dogs were living wild on someone’s property.  The dogs were forced to resort to a “survival of the fittest” mentality, and this has damaged Meara’s socialization with other dogs and people.  Meara sees all other creatures in her world as a potential threat.

Meara has seen many changes since coming into rescue…and that has further damaged her state of mind.  She is currently fostered by an experienced foster home that will be working with her over the next few weeks on getting her where she needs to be.  Meara will remain in this home until the right forever family comes along.  She can’t have anymore change in her life, and needs a family committed to her continued socialization and training.

If you feel that you can offer this to her, please email Kim Johnson at savaussies@comcast.net

Kinsey - ARPH 10249

kensley-1.jpgkensley.jpgKinsey is a three year old red merle male with a full tail. He is fully vetted, neutered and has recently been treated for heartworms. Kinsey came to us from animal control, he was very thin when he came to us and has been working hard at gaining some weight and getting back in shape. Since completion of his heartworm treatment Kinsey has become a different dog, he is feeling so much better now and it shows.? His coat is coming back in now and he is turning into a good looking boy unfortunately he does not care for the camera….

Kinsey is true southern gentleman a bit shy and timid upon an initial meeting , he does warm up quickly and loves attention once he gets to know you. He has a sweet disposition and does scare easily and will need a home with a gentle and loving environment. He enjoys playing with other dogs and loves to run. He is not a barker, he is crate trained and housebroken. He gets along great with other dogs and is a follower in the pack. He loves to follow his foster mom from room to room. Kinsey is more comfortable around women but is learning to trust men again, he would need a home with an easy going guy to help his confidence with men.? Kinsey is one of those dogs that is just easy to have around.

This boy enjoys walks and is great on lead, he would make a great running partner for someone. Kinsey is never going to be a social butterfly but with some love and attention he will make a super pet. He has not been tested with cats. If you are looking for an easy going Aussie who does not ask for much please give Kinsey a look. He is located in the Newnan, GA area and available for adoption now.

Before contacting us in regard to a dog, please complete an online adoption application. Please contact Kim Johnson if you have any questions regarding Kinsey.
