Kirby 426

100b7371
Kirby was a beautiful little puppy that found his way to some very caring individuals who could not keep him, but contacted Aussie Rescue to assure he would be safe.

Sadly, on 3/30 Kirby passed away under anesthesia during his neuter procedure.  Despite all of the efforts of the veterinary staff, little Kirby could not be revived.  We send him on with the loss of such a wonderful puppy in our hearts.  Rest peacefully little Kirby. Our thoughts are with his foster home during this time of loss and his new Dad who will never be have the chance to know how wonderful Kirby was.

Tatum (Tanner’s sister)

tanner-and-sisTatum was euthanized at a rural GA shelter early on Friday 2/26 moments before our rescue found out about her and her brother Tanner.  The call for rescue came in the nick of time to save Tanner’s life – however, it came too late for Tatum.

We wanted to post her here so that somewhere there will be a record of her life and the loss of it – we gave her a name to remember her by.  This little girl was so close to rescue – and passed from this earth for no other reason than because no one wanted her.

Please consider a shelter dog…they are so many out there needing you.

Rest peacefully sweet girl. You are remembered.

River was an amazing dog that had a can do attitude, lots of excitement was packed into his little body. He did it all herding, dancing and becoming a READ Dog. His family and all of us who knew him will miss him.

Ariel 202 In Loving Memory

ariel-331

Sweet Ariel was an Angel Aussie who was picked up as a stray in Cleveland, TN.  Her future looked bright as the stars when she entered rescue, but soon after became very ill with Parvo virus.  Her former owners could have saved her life if they’d just provided a few rounds of vaccinations when she was younger.  It’s a small price to pay to give your puppy the future they deserve.

Little Ariel lost her battle with Parvo on 6/5.  We extend our deepest sympathies to her foster parents who loved and cherished Ariel in her final days.

Dontae

dontae-1-1

Dontae was and will always be my best buddy. We adopted Dontae from ARPH in January 2004. Although he would play tug of war and chase every now and then he was the “old man” and the “fun police” at our house. If the other dogs got playing too much he would start barking and try to stop them. Not long ago we found two baby kittens, their mother had died. Dontae became their mother. He would clean them and let them sleep with him. We can tell the babies are searching and wanting Dontae’s love and companionship; so are we!

Thanks, Keith & Linda Fry

Jackson

jack.bmpJack found his way into the Eley household in August, 1998 via the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.  He protected our family, helped raise our son, and rehabilitate many foster Aussies who came through our doors.  He was always dependable, he was always strong and stoic even at the end of his life.  Jack was our first dog, our first rescue and our first Aussie – he was the inspiration for our involvement in rescue.

Jack also played a “victim” along with his owner Rachael Eley for Alpha Team Search and Rescue members in training (http://www.atsar.org/services.htm).  We have donated to ATSAR in his honor so that other wonderful dogs can achieve their potential in helping to save lives. Jack is a testament to the wonderful things a rescue dog can accomplish.

Jack, you will be missed every day.  You were the best dog in the world.

Daisy

daisy.jpg

Daisy and her daughter Dixie were rescued from a puppy mill auction, Daisy spent the first eight years of her life making money for a puppy mill and producing litter after litter, she came to rescue obese and worn out, never knowing a life out side of her breeding pen till they were rescued. Daisy and her daughter were adopted together and lived a very happy life with a wonderful mom who gave her a ton of attention and spoiled her. Sadly Daisy had cancer and she passed away in her favorite spot at home with her favorite kitty next to her……..

Trevor

100_7558.jpgDespite our best efforts, Trevor could not be saved from the terrible experience he’d endured prior to rescue.  We are grateful that we were able to give him the diginity in death that his former owner did not give him in life.  He is now free of pain and we are also grateful that for the few short weeks he was in foster care, Trevor knew what being safe, loved and well fed was like.

Cody

wodeman.JPG

Cody was a special boy from the moment we brought him home. He was always a loving snuggle bug who found his “voice” after three days and never stopped “talking” after that. He was one of our first “children” before we had non-furry ones and showed us what a true friend can be. He always greeted us with a roo-roo song when we got home and was always by our side (and we by his). We took him camping, on many hikes and swims together and he loved his walks. He was not an ARPH dog but he helped our adopted ARPH dog Jack learn trust and manners as well as quite a few temporary fosters that came through our home.

Unfortunately Cody developed an inoperable tumor that grew in his abdomen and cancer spread to multiple organs. He fought admirably with no complaints and made it much further than expected but finally lost the battle with cancer. We had 13.5 wonderful years with this special guy and it broke our hearts to lose him. We gave him the best life we possibly could and know that he is now pain free romping with his friends over the rainbow bridge.

Thank you for touching our lives Cody.

Trixie

Trixie ARPH 8383

I was lucky to have the best little Aussie girl live with me for three years, thanks to Aussie Rescue and Tim and Diana who fostered her and broughther to me.  Trixie passed out of her old body today and lives in spirit now freefrom the bonds of pain and limitation.  I held her beloved head in my lap and told her that it was okay.  It’s not okay for me today but she needed release and that is the obligation that we have to our good pals. I will miss her “Blue Dog” stare when she was trying to mentally bend me to her will and her frustrated bark that said, “Get over there and get me a biscuit! Are you deaf?”  She loved to protect me from the evil vacuum cleaner and even defeated one entirely–it broke down with the scars of Trixie’s attacks on its plastic hide.  At the end of her defense of the carpet, she was rewarded with a relaxing massage–she loved to be vacuumed with the hose attachment. I am grateful for the time that I had with Trixie.  She rounded out our lives.

Duke
