Scottie

scottie.jpgscottiesmile.jpgscott.jpgScottie is a five year old traditionally marked black and white rough coat Border Collie.  He was brought into rescue after being picked up as a stray by Animal Control.  Scottie immediately found a home with a wonderful family, but eight months later, the toddler in the home because too loud and scary for Scott, so the family made the hard decision to return him to his original fosterhome.  Scottie is a gem of a dog.  His gentle nature and quiet personality would make him an ideal therapy dog.  Scottie is reliably housetrained, totally non-destructive indoors, is fantastic with other dogs, loves his crate, and isn’t overly velcro.  He is a Frisbee natural and a lot of fun to play around with.  Scottie’s negatives are that he will chase cats if they run from him and he will chase cars.  For this reason, Scottie MUST have a fenced yard to keep him safe.

Scottie is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and being maintained on Interceptor and Frontline.  Though we are sure that he is a Border Collie, Scottie is not nearly as intense and does not require the constant mental/physical stimulation of a typical BC.  He is perfectly content with being a companion dog with the occassional game of frisbee or fetch in the backyard.

Adler Referral

adler2.jpgadlersmile.jpgAdler is a loving Aussie that was rescued 7 years ago.  He has a bobbed tail, is neutered, current on all shots, and maintained on monthly heartworm and flea preventative.  He is an estimated 10 years of age and is in good health.  He loves people of all ages, and gets along well with other dogs.  Adler is a loving companion with a passion for exploring outdoors.  Although he is an outdoor dog, he once was an indoor dog and was house trained.  His family is moving out-of-state for work this summer.  Because they cannot sell their home they are moving into an apartment and Adler, unfortunately, cannot go.  Please consider adopting this wonderful pet who deserves a caring home later in life. Adler is located in the Athens GA area and is need of  a home quickly, if you have room for this older loving boy please contact Michele at  michele.estes@gmail.com

Shea Referral

xmas-is-ruff.jpgboy-beauties.jpg

Shea is a 5 year young, AKC registered neutered blue merle with gorgeous marbled eyes and a natural bobbed tail.  He is up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative Interceptor.  He is a medium energy Aussie and weighs 50 lbs.

Shea was rescued as a referral dog by an ARPH volunteer who just couldn’t part with him three years ago.  Unfortunately, Shea’s new family recently relocated from their 12 acres to a subdivision with pet restrictions, and since Shea’s older brother is nearly nine years old and has special needs, his family feels Shea would be the best suited for a new loving family placement.

Shea loves his brother but is competitive when human attention is involved, so he would be best suited as an only dog for a first time Aussie owner or in a home with an experienced pack leader.  Shea is extremely affectionate, placing his head in your lap anytime a lap is available or gently nudging you with his paw if your attention is diverted from his gaze.  He is excellent on leash, crate trained (though he prefers to sleep under the bed) and bonds very quickly especially to women.  He would make an excellent therapy dog and loves riding shotgun in the car where everyone takes notice of him.

Shea is playful and energetic and hasn’t seen a ball he didn’t like.  The frisbee seems to confuse him but he can leap over a 4 foot obstacle without a running start, so a six foot plus fence might be in order for this guy.  He just learned to swim this past year and may still be a bit hesitant barking at the edge but will eventually join you if coaxed; definitely needs some work as a dock dog!  Shea currently lives with three children all under the age of 6 and is affectionate but will try to herd them in active play and will step over or lay on little ones if not attended.  Shea also lives with cats and has been around animals as small as bunnies and ferrets and as large as horses.  Shea is used to being at home with his pack all day and would love to find a new home that can offer him as much love, attention, and tummy rubs as he enjoys today.  If you are an approved adopter and think Shea may be a good fit for you please contact his owner Amanda at aswalrad@gmail.com.
