Tootsie #532

Tootsie is a 5 1/2 yr old mini (possible toy) Aussie, she stands about 14″ tall. She is a black tri (docked tail) and just as cute as a button (her coat had been shaved a couple months ago so will grow back long). Right now she weighs around 25lb but should probably weigh more like 18 or 19 lbs (yes she is very overweight). She is a little on the shy side at first. She follows me all around the house and then settles at my feet.

Tootsie was a little growly with my dogs and if they got in her face she’d snap but they all know to keep their distance and she’s fine with that!  She may prefer a home with no other dogs, I think she’d be happier. I was told by her former owner she does not like cats.

Tootsie rides very well in the car and seems to enjoy it, she’ll jump right in! She walks fairly well on a leash. I think small children would be a bit overwhelming.  You should see Tootsie rip around the yard! She then runs to the water bowl and starts digging in it, water everywhere…it’s a mess but it’s so cute (only the outside water bowl NOT the inside one)! I decided to get out the wading pool, she will go in it and start digging in it and then just lay there like AHHHHH. She loves it!  Tootsie is also a great sleeping buddy. She lays in one place, doesn’t move around and is very content to sleep with you (and she doesn’t take up much room!). She would make a nice traveling companion, nice and portable.

Tootsie is fostered in Deltona, FL  If interested please contact Kim at flaussierescue@cfl.rr.com

Jenner 518

This handsome boy is Jenner.  He was set to transport to our Northern friends; however, has tested positive for Heartworms.  We will treat him for this in GA and hopefully be able to transport him to NY for fostering at a later date.

Jenner does well with other dogs, and is interested in cats, but leaves them alone when asked to.

Currently, Jenner is located in Kennesaw, GA.

New Spirit could use some assistance to cover Jenner’s heartworm treatment.  To use our online donation form, click here.  We appreciate any donation, however small.

Carlee

Carlee is a very striking black tri who came into rescue from a private home with her sister Nita.  Nita and Carlee often didn’t see eye to eye as siblings often don’t…however, Carlee is nicely behaved with other dogs.

Carlee is extremely responsive to people and has excellent recall and focus on her person.  She rides great in the car, walks like a champ on leash and is very social without being over the top about it.

Carlee has experience with children and is very gentle.  She is learning what it means to be a housepet and will be available in a few weeks once she has been brought up to date on veterinary care.  She is fostered in Lawrenceville, GA.

Interested parties may contact Rachael Eley at Catmndu@gmail.com

Nita

This sweet blue merle girl is very new to rescue. She is an adorable and lovingly submissive Aussie who is very pleasing and responsive to people.

Nita came from a home where she didn’t always get along with her sister, so she’s got some bumps and scrapes from that experience. She is lovely with all the dogs in her foster home, however, and the cats, too. She has been raised with a child and is a friendly, unassuming sweetheart.

Nita is a bit reactive to loud noises and will panic when storms or trains are near.  She bolted over her foster home’s fence as a result of a train passing within 500 feet of the house.  She will require supervision or leash walking while she’s learning to adjust to all of the sounds a dog encounters in their life.

Nita is up to date on vaccinations, but has tested positive for heartworms, so won’t be available for a month or so.  She is fostered in Atlanta, GA.  Interested parties may contact Rachael Eley at Catmndu@gmail.com

New Spirit could use some assistance to cover Nita’s heartworm treatment.  To use our online donation form, click here.  We appreciate any donation, however small.

Nita sends big puppy kisses to her sponsors:  W Gregory, Johnny Sims, and Jennifer Lee.

Ellie #526

Before inquiring about a dog, please complete an Adoption Application.

Ellie is doing well!  She loves to jump up in the chair and cuddle with you. She is a good watch dog and lets you know when something is amiss. This little sweetie-pie is of medium energy, not an over the top out of control puppy at all. She likes her crate and does well with the other dogs in the household and the kids that come to walk her daily.  She loves to play in her wading pool,  lounge outside in the grass or cuddled up next to one of the other dogs………a delightful little girl!

Ellie is approx 6 months old and 25lbs, she’s a small girl. What a sweet thing this pup is and playful!   She retrieves and brings toys and balls back and can even entertain herself with her toys.  This is one good little pup!

Ellie is fostered in Port Orange FL, if interested please contact Kim at flaussierescue@cfl.rr.com

McGraw 74

McGraw has received the green light for surgery.  He is scheduled to receive his cataract surgery on August 2.

McGraw sends bigs puppy kisses to his sponsors:  Sheley Revis, Janet Ward, Frances Clark, Bill and Nicole Parks, Marie McLean, Tonya Bruner, Anne Sprague, John and Cezette Leopold, Lori Jablon, Brandy Mercier, Mary Ann Hopkins, Lynn Gaines, Jennifer Barrozini,  the Webb family Alabama, and Karen Ligou.

7/8 Update – McGraw’s foster home noticed there was something not quite right about McGraw’s vision as he seemed to have trouble seeing things close to his face.

Today McGraw was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes that will eventually rob him of his sight at an early age.  However, there is a surgical repair that can be performed to restore McGraw’s sight completely and the problem will never recur.

Cobb Internal Medicine and Dr. King are giving us an excellent discount for the procedure; however the price tag for surgery is still pretty high.  We need your help to cover the cost of returning McGraw’s sight to him and help him live a long and happy life.

McGraw will undergo his preliminary examination (sponsored by Dr. Sheley Revis and her Aussome crew of Aussies) the week of 7/12 and we will know whether he is a candidate for surgery at that time.  Please stay tuned for updates.

McGraw is fostered in Woodstock, GA.

Dillon 416

Before inquiring about a dog, please complete an Adoption Application.
Dillon came to rescue very shy and trembling – he wouldn’t’ make eye contact with people or interact with other dogs.
After a very short time in rescue, Dillon’s personality has changed drastically.  His favorite foster brother has taught him to play now and he is very happy to receive kisses and hugs from his foster parents too.
Dillon can normally be found sleeping on a dog bed with all four paws in the air, flat on his back. He is a wonderful soft and gentle little dog who isn’t needy and doesn’t ask for much in return.  He is doing wonderfully with all of the male dogs in his foster home and ignores the cats.
He is fine being crated; however, his foster family doesn’t crate him when they are away.  Dillon is a bit hesitant when meeting new people, but with a  little bit of patience and some time, he is so willing to trust.  Dillon is fostered in Kennesaw, GA.  Interested parties may contact Rachael Eley at Catmndu@gmail.com.

Hedy 514

Before inquiring about a dog, please complete an Adoption Application.

Hedy is a very pretty red tri Aussie with a docked tail.  She is about 4 years old and is up to date on all of her veterinary care.

Hedy is an intelligent, extremely responsive dog with a willingness to please.  She is very obedient, housetrained, crate trained and excellent with the dogs and cats in her foster home.  She also rides very well in the car.

While Hedy has proven herself to be an amazing dog in foster care with firm and consistent leadership, she has struggled in other environments when there hasn’t been consistency and clear expectations.

Hedy will require a very Aussie savvy owner.  One that has no problem taking charge with her and letting her know that visitors (including dogs) aren’t a threat to her and her family.  Even though Hedy does wonderfully with the dogs in her foster home, we feel she would flourish best in a home with no other dogs where she can receive one on one attention.  Hedy has shown a tendency to herd children, therefore, she will require a home without kids.

Hedy can be protective of her people if her family doesn’t take charge with visitors entering the home.

If you have a confident flair for training and are willing to help Hedy be the best dog she can be, then please email Rachael Eley at Catmndu@gmail.com.
